Yngwie J. Malmsteen writes about The Genesis, "In 1978 I formed a group around myself as the lead guitarist, lead vocalist and as the solo composer. At that time it was called Powerhouse; soon after I named it Rising, and consequently Rising Force. From 1978 to 1983, I always recorded my music to try to improve all the time. In January of 1980 we went into an 8 track studio for a couple of days and put down the first six tracks that you will hear on this album. It was very primitive and mostly live. Nothing came of these recordings, but bootlegs of these and other recordings started to float around (they still do). So I finally decided to give my fans the real deal! So here it is... enjoy!"

"Hell III-New Axes To Grind" is the 1997 release from guitar phenoms Jerry Donahue, John Jorgenson and Will Ray. The trio open the CD with "T.W.P.P.T", a song written by all three members (our personal Frankenstein, says Ray). The hard edge continues through "Riddler's Journey", slowing down a little with the Will Ray composition entitled "Ghosts Of 42nd Street", a piece based on New York City jazz in the '30s and '40s. Next, Jorgenson pays tribute to Indian pop music with the original song "Mist Beyond Delhi". Songs such as the twangy "Mad Cows At Ease" and the face paced finale "Breaking Through" nearly stop the show. It's hard to believe this trio could push the guitar envelope even further, but on "Hell III-New Axes To Grind", boy did they ever!

The Hellecasters are an American guitar group. Composed of Nashville session players Will Ray, John Jorgenson (Desert Rose, Elton John's backup band), and Jerry Donahue (Fairport Convention), they all play modified versions of the Fender Telecaster as their main instruments. Their name, it has been speculated, comes from a pun, wherein they claim to play the Hell out of their Telecasters. They came together at the behest of Michael Nesmith of the Monkees to record an album as a gag. Their first two albums, The Return of the Hellecasters and Escape from Hollywood, were released by Nesmith's Pacific Arts Audio label.
